am i missing something...

... or do “Levitate” and “My Blood” escape the whole Dema thing? they feel too personal and like neither the characters nor the place are even there... as if Tyler didn’t even try to fit meaning into metaphors, he just bluntly said how he was feeling and shit.

not complaining, even though neither song drove me crazy. i didn’t like them and that’s ok. it’s nice to know that just because you love a band you don’t have to absolutely love everything they put out. that i can still respect and admire them even if i don’t like all of it. but if you’re gonna put out a concept record, at least be consistent. then again, i’m probably missing something, because these boys think everything through, i don’t think they would actually promote a concept record without it being so.

maybe it’s the fact that they’re releasing half the album before it comes out. perhaps it would’ve been wiser to wait. after all, concept records are meant to be listen to as a whole. each song is a part of something greater. i mean, at least release singles in order, man.

anyways, what do i know, right? all i know is that when “Jumpsuit” and “Nico And The Niners” came out i couldn’t wait for it to be October 5th, and now, after “Levitate” and “My Blood” i’m not so excited anymore.

wait... i'm confused

because at first i thought "Nico and the Niners" came after "Jumpsuit", but then i came to thinking: 'what if it's before?'. like, bear with me: what if Josh and the rest of the Banditos came BACK for Tyler after he got caught by Nico in "Jumpsuit"? is it that? or am i overthinking everything, and "Nico and The Niners" ("NatN" from now on) is just moments before they all escaped.

it's confusing, though. because in "NatN" Tyler's in his room with his "hds" outfit (although it's been a while becasue Tyler's hair is longer than in "hds"), and at the end he's wearing his "Jumpsuit" outfit. this makes me think "NatN" comes before "Jumpsuit".

but then, inside Dema, Josh and Tyler clearly know each other... So, why was EVERYONE on the high hills but Tyler in "Jumpsuit". i thought (adding Clancy's latest letter to the mix) that Tyler had escaped on his own and Josh and the Banditos found him, and then Josh kept looking as Ty got caught by Nico like bitch-you-ain't-taking-my-friend-imma-break-him-free-just-you-wait, you know?

i'm so confused! i love it.

i also loved the design of Dema:

i wonder if this is an actual place in the world. it looks terrifying.

by the way, this is one scary cult:
yy

i mean, they're heating up glass with a giant blow-torch. like, what the fuck, people? what is happening?!

anyways: now that we know that Tyler and Josh know each other from somewhere... maybe Dema, maybe BEFORE:

sorry, i don't make the rules.

this made me smile a lot. just the fact that they both almost break character by smiling... aweee! so adorable. kinda makes me forget there for a moment that they'll all be wanted dead or alive in a couple of seconds.

twenty one pilots is taking the ‘concept album’ concept to a whole different level

and holy shit i’m living for it. we’re all here praising Gerard Way and My Chemical Romance but i have the feeling that “Trenches” is gonna be even better.

and since i’m comparing- well, i don’t mean to, both bands are amazing and MCR doesn’t even exists anymore, but i can’t help to, either.

lemme explain: to me, “Blurryface” was twenty one pilots’ “The Black Parade”. Tyler had a character while Josh didn’t but it was still a concept album. it was kinda more personal to TyJo, like TBP was to Gerard.

and now “Trench” feels like “Danger Days...”. Every member has a character now. i think Josh is Nico and Tyler is Clancy (i’m probably wrong. just guessing). and the story has much more depth to it. much more like DD was.

all that said. i think “Trench” might be the greatest concept album in history.... of alternative music... at least. the backstory of it. everything. i mean: they’ve been fucking around with the clique, sending cryptic messages and shit for THREE MONTHS prior to release the FIRST SINGLE.

and now that i mention the clique: big shout out to all the clique members who were smart enough to unlock all the mysteries: i’ve been following this whole dma.org thing since the beginning and now listening to the new songs and hearing so many familiar words and phrases in the songs feels surreal. even down to the name of the fucking album. Nico and the Niners, “east is up”, Clancy, the whole DEMA deal. everything.

fucking Tyler Joseph, he’s a goddamn genius. i love how the “Jumpsuit” video connects with “heavydirtysoul” and the “Blurryface” concept. it’s like they’re saying goodbye to the old era to fully focus and dive into this new era.

the yellow era.

i don’t think it’s coincidential that they chose the colour yellow, more after the release of “Jumpsuit” that’s pretty much a big “fuck you” to Blurryface (as a character). i mean, it’s no coincidence since yellow is the colour many mental health campains have used lately.

i don’t know. i’m just incredibly excited for this new era! can’t wait to hear the rest of the album because so far... it’s sounding pretty amazing.
