... or do “Levitate” and “My Blood” escape the whole Dema thing? they feel too personal and like neither the characters nor the place are even there... as if Tyler didn’t even try to fit meaning into metaphors, he just bluntly said how he was feeling and shit.
not complaining, even though neither song drove me crazy. i didn’t like them and that’s ok. it’s nice to know that just because you love a band you don’t have to absolutely love everything they put out. that i can still respect and admire them even if i don’t like all of it. but if you’re gonna put out a concept record, at least be consistent. then again, i’m probably missing something, because these boys think everything through, i don’t think they would actually promote a concept record without it being so.
maybe it’s the fact that they’re releasing half the album before it comes out. perhaps it would’ve been wiser to wait. after all, concept records are meant to be listen to as a whole. each song is a part of something greater. i mean, at least release singles in order, man.
anyways, what do i know, right? all i know is that when “Jumpsuit” and “Nico And The Niners” came out i couldn’t wait for it to be October 5th, and now, after “Levitate” and “My Blood” i’m not so excited anymore.
