Evan Peters wants to play a really messed up character in FX's American Horror Story: Hotel.
Peters recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about his role of Jimmy Darling in AHS: Freak Show and what he's hoping to play in season 5, titled Hotel.
"He was kind of the leader in the freak show - and it was a really hard role. There was a lot of emotion involved, a lot of physical stuff," Peters admitted. "Wearing those [deformed] hands every day and trying to make them believable was very difficult. I mean, they were rubber. You can't really touch anything because the paint rubs off quickly and the glue comes undone. They were a very temperamental prosthetic."
The actor also explained how he was drawn into the world of Ryan Murphy's horror anthology series before the first season.
"I was basically out of work. I didn't know it was going to be anything like it ended up being, but I just fell in love with [my character] Tate," Peters said. "Then Ryan called me and asked me if I wanted to do season two and said, 'Do you want to be a different character? Because it's going to be a whole new story.' That's a huge draw because you don't get pigeonholed. I've had the opportunity to play four different characters so far, which is just unheard of."
Peters has now starred in all five seasons of American Horror Story, one of very few actors to do so. He has played a variety of characters over the years from the trouble teen Tate in season 1 to "lobster boy" Jimmy Darling in Freak Show.
Now the actor wants to play someone with an edge in Hotel.
"Something totally scandalous. I like the real f-ed up stuff," Peters said, when asked who he wants to play in the fifth season.
Very little has been revealed about who Peters is playing in Hotel, though Murphy did tweet that the actor will be in "Room 64," which will probably have an ominous vibe to it.
American Horror Story: Hotel begins in October on FX, though the network has not yet announced a specific premiere date.
