... but i finally understood the angle of “The Haunting”. it’s a song for the Poet, not by the Poet! i know i said before that maybe it was the ‘other side of suicide’ because of the line “can you feel your sister staring at your grave?”, and i still stand by that. only now i understand what the verses are saying (i think).
so, here’s the thing: i think the ‘he’ in the song is Death (as they reference Death as ‘he’ and ‘him’ in previous songs, like “The Reaper”, and “The Two Tongues (Screaming Salvation)”). so, what the writer is asking is: ‘was suicide your choice or was it Death that called you?’ or something around those ideas.
i’m not sure and i couldn’t catch idobi radio track by track (and those damn fuckers ain’t doing nothing about it. like, welcome to 20-fucking-18, put it on the internet people!), although i read they cut some tracks off because it was ‘too long’ (*extreme eyeroll*), but... this could be it.
i mean, unless i get my hands on the track by track, i’ll never know. about any of the songs meanings. i love analysing them on my own terms though, but for now: i’ll leave you with “The Haunting”.
