i know this isn’t something you’re going to like to hear,
which is exactly why you need to hear this.
because we have failed our ancestors,
ourselves,
and the future inhabitants of the wounded world.
you can’t pull back the trigger and then point the same finger.
WHAT. AN. AWESOME. BRIDGE. BITCH!
i for real can’t wait for this album. i know i’ve liked ΛS IT IS for like... a little over a week. but i’m already in love. and also: i am really, really behind the concept of “The Great Depression".

what i’m most excited about is this song the boys keep hyping up, “The Reaper”, featuring UnderØATH’s own drummer Aaron Gillespie (harmony genius). i remember- no one cares, but i remember first hearing UnderØATH back in 2006 as a chance. i was trying to download MCR music from Ares (does anyone remember Ares? or am i just old af?) and i found a video that was named “I Never Told You What I Do For A Living - My Chemical Romance”, and silly young me thought ‘oh, didn’t know they had a music video for this- DOWNLOAD!’ (note that this was WAY before YouTube was a thing. because i AM really old). it’s safe to say that it could’ve most probably been porn, but i didn’t think it through, i just went for it. i didn’t think a lot of things through back then... needless to say, i was way happier. anyways, digressing as per fucking usual: to my surprise it turned out NOT to be MCR, but UnderØATH instead. this video in particular:
so, just to be clear, it took me like two months to figure out the name of the band. god, the internet worked in a completely different way back then. but, to my benefit, Mtv actually aired like 20 hours worth of music, and i eventually came across the music video on TV. because i used to spend most of the day watching Mtv and Much Music... oh, the good ol’ early 2000s, how i miss you.
anywho: i never really got into UnderØATH (they’re amazing, but... i don’t know), but i’m quite excited for this collaboration. when Ben and Patty said “Aaron Gillespie from Underoath”, i was suddenly 15 again. i shit you not. i even shrieked with excitement and everything.
anyways... that’s it. i’m just really excited for this album. the whole aesthetic is amazing, and the concept. again. imma be talking about it for months. decoding it, trying to understand, crying because they’re never gonna come play live to Argentina...
why? why was i born in this british-forsaken country? i think this is punishment for kicking them out the country back in the early 1800s... twice. but they took our islands, wasn’t that enough? if anybody read this blog i’d get so much hate for this. luckily i’m immune because i’m invisible. ha! jokes on you... you...? what am i on about? i just want my british bands to come play a show! i’m just gonna see my way out while i still have some dignity left.
wait! bright side: at least they never played here (yet). usually when i get into a band they’d played a show four months earlier (true story: twenty øne piløts, Arctic Monkeys, Heffron Drive, the list goes on and on), which sucks balls because the odds of bands like that coming back are next to zero. so that usually means i missed my chance. but with Λ\\ i still have a chance not to miss them! (i already missed Tonight Alive two years ago- which sucked double because i wasn’t able to make it because i was somewhere else on a field trip for college- i hate my life, ugh!)
i absolutely adore this last scene of the video. i love how devastated Patty is. after all his efforts to get through to the people nothing’s changed. it’s a beautiful analogy of how we feel sorry for tragedies when we’re watching the news but then forget about it and go on with our lives when the TV turns off. i mean, i could be completely off, but... yeah, i’m gonna say that.
~talk’s a waste of time~
